CMP - Chondromalacia of Patella

Mal alignment of the patella, is the main cause to a continuous progressive friction and wear of patellar articular surface. The usual surface is about nine cm2 large and is built to be congruent at all phases of knee movements. The Mal-aligned Patella has a smaller congruent surface, which in time  progressively vanishes and hence working under greater Pressure.

Severe Arthrosis due to Subluxation (
Age 51 Years)

Our unique Treatment is based upon lateral release of the Patella (surgically through a small Incision) and thereafter medial open Approach to the Knee (Arthrotomy), exposure of the inner surface of the Patella and inserting  a  HydroGel Cylinder (Cartiva™} which fulfills the function of an articulating Cartilage. Being prominent  makes movement and friction between patella and femoral condyle  painless.  We are also using a special fixation method which prevents the Implants from dislocating.

Per cutaneous "Lateral Release" is a simple         HydroGel Cylinder. It keeps the Distance
procedure releasing the lateral tension                 between the Knee-Parts, thus preventing
causing the Patella to subluxate.                           friction and pain

The Procedure is done within half an hour and allows rapid return to active and painless activities.
